Saw some invisible ink on Temu and thought it was glow in the dark ink. But when it arrived it didn’t glow in the dark but turns out is only visible under UV light.
I thought would be cool to play with the idea of hidden messages in particular hiding the word of God, which has been made known to man through the light of the world which is Jesus Christ the saviour.
The idea of the Son of God being the light which comes from the sun.
Light has all the colours of the rainbow hidden in it and is only revealed when it passed through a prison such as a rain drops.
The rainbow was first revealed after the great flood and was a sign that God would not flood the world again.
So it was nice to utilise these ideas to demonstrate God’s hidden promises being illuminated through UV Light.
Ultra means beyond and so ultra violet means beyond violet.
By using UV light light that is beyond violet beyond the spectrum of colour that is visible to man, we can see God’s promises revealed in Jesus Christ, illuminating God’s word and his promise if salvation world that he had promised since the time of Noah when the first promise revealed after the great flood in the form of a rainbow revealing all colours that man can visibly see on the spectrum.

This is much more striking in person.
Other ideas are
- create a treasure hunt through my paintings in an exhibition and give everyone their own UV light to discover the hidden Easter eggs.
- Use it to create paintings that change at night. I read that they used to do this for the stands that shade the fireplace when the fire heats it up the scene on the painting changes. Or becomes a night scene.
- Paint stars in the sky revealed at night with a UV lamp.
- Illuminate parts of the picture eg show the glow or aura around a person, rays of light.
