Here’s another from the vault and completely forgot I had done this. We have been getting into puzzles and have just completed our first one with the family. I was pleasantly surprised to find amongst my old childhood things that I’m still going through, a puzzle I did when I was in highschool.

On the back it appears to be based on a phrase from a book
“Can we keep him Grandaddy?” – the little kidnappers
and I had put a bible passage John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whosoever believes in him shall have eternal life.
Merry Christmas
It appears I might have planned to give it as a fun Christmas card to someone.
Then in the bottom corner
It has
“Can we keep him mummy?”
Which is different to the top. I wonder If I had it wrong and wrote it again.
Fact checked: it’s from a book and it’s definitely the grandfather not mummy. Looking at the trailer from the movie based on the book my drawing looks completely different. Looking at the style of the bus I must have imagined this to be American not Nova Scotia.
It’s dated 22/11/1999
I’ve listed my class which makes me think it might have been a class task at the end of the year as a fun thing. It doesn’t appear to be graded. Or perhaps I was just reading a book and was inspired to draw a picture and I wondered what I could do with it so decided to make it into a puzzle and then perhaps double it as a Christmas card.
On the back of the cardboard I had glued it to (recycled from bed sheets packaging), I can see I attempted to draw the puzzle pieces but the pieces are not cut according to the lines. I vaguely remember cutting the cardboard with scissors and thinking this is too hard and decided to make each puzzle pieces unique which would make it easier to fit together.
Boredom is the mother of creativity.
Looking back it’s amazing what things my younger self came up with without devices and the internet distracting me.
Hopefully this inspires you to create your own puzzle out of a painting or drawing you have done.
